Balloon flights usually take place within two hours of dawn and around two hours before dusk, a period when the air is at its most stable. So times will vary throughout the year with sunrise and sunset hours. How far do we fly? Depending on the wind, we may cover one mile or twenty miles: as balloons follow the wind, we have no mean for controlling lateral movements during flight. It is sometimes but rarely possible to fly back to the launch site. Ask the pilot!
